'The Changing Agenda for HE and its impact on Collaborative Partnerships'

Conference 2010 - 16th & 17th September 2010

Venue: Midland Hotel, Manchester

The conference this year focused on the impact on Collaborative Partnerships of the changing agenda for Higher Education in the light of cuts to the Higher Education budget. The Conference was addressed by the Chief Executive of the QAA - Anthony McClaran and the Principal of New College, Durham - John Widdowson. In addition, delegates had the opportunity to attend a variety of workshops and seminars.

Reaching & Responding to Employers

Woburn House, Tavistock Square, London - 9th June 2010.

This seminar explored the processes and systems universities and colleges might need to have in place to support effective work with employers. In addition to presentations there where opportunities to interrogate "expert witnesses" to identify effective and transferable practice.

It is with great pleasure that we offer to the full membership these Powerpoint presentations from the CVU seminar “Reaching and Responding to Employers”, which was held jointly with fdf on 9th June 2010.  It is a pleasure tinged with regret as I personally was unable to attend, but I have received very positive feedback from the event and am convinced that the presentations will be of great interest.  In “ Reaching and Responding to Employers”, Adrian Evans summarises the context in which HE is being encouraged to work more closely with employers, and he extends this to demonstrate Teeside University’s approaches in “Getting the offer right”.  Renata D Eyres outlines the approach of the University of Salford take in “”Engaging with Employers: getting the people right” and Celia Moran tackles the more technical issues of collaboration with employers in “”Getting the systems and costing right”.  I hope they are of use to all members and look forward to more CVU seminars in 2010/11 which we will endeavour to make of equal interest and relevance.

Tuesday, 9th February 2010 - Working with Private Providers - The Tavistock Room, Woburn House, London

The seminar covered some of the key issues that Universities and Private Providers needed to consider when seeking to work together. Speakers covered the following topics; QAA requirements regarding collaborative provision, HEI and private provider perspectives on collaborative arrangements, and discussions regarding best practice.

The seminar was open to both CVU members and BAC-accredited institutions.

This was a joint seminar with the British Accreditation Council.
